Dear
friends,
A
Happy Easter to you all. As we pass the Easter eggs around and gorge
ourselves on delicious chocolate – I reflect on the differing
fortunes of recent cinema releases. Some films are doing very well at
the box office (Fifty Shades of Grey and Cinderella for
example) while others have struggled to find an audience (Blackhat
and The Gunman are recent
releases that come to mind).
It's crowded out there and, sadly, not every movie can be a hit.
These
days, the blockbusters often seem to do better than the “squeezed”
smaller film, and this month we have the opening of one of the
biggest blockbusters of the year. Avengers: Age of Ultron hits
British movie screens on 24th April 2015 and goes on
general release in the USA on May 1st. You can read a
little about this long awaited sequel (and the other new releases) in
the April edition of my newsletter – Big Films Monthly .

Films Monthly – April 2015
The
first Avengers movie made more than one and a half billion dollars at
the worldwide box office when it was released in 2012. Can Avengers:
Age of Ultron match that performance? Given the continued
popularity of superhero movies, there's every reason to think so.
Well, whatever types of movie you decide to go to see this month
(whether they're blockbusters, B movies, or arthouse independents) I
hope you have a great time at the pictures. Happy Viewing!
